Woodland- We are sad to announce the unexpected passing of Randall “Randy” Thomas, 70. He died surrounded by his family on May 26, 2023, at Kaiser Vacaville Hospital. He was born August 21, 1952, in Seattle Washington. He was the son of Janet Foster Thomas and Hugh Evan Thomas
Randy was always known for his great smile and his kindness. He graduated from South Tahoe High School, Class of 1970. After graduation he attended UC Riverside and UC Davis before starting his career as a Golf Professional.
He worked and did his apprenticeship with Davis Municipal Golf Course. In 1984, he married the love of his life, Andrea Boileau Thomas. In 1987 he got his first head pro position at Meadowmont Golf Course in Arnold, CA. Just a few years later he became the Head Pro at Cold Springs Golf Course in Placerville, CA. He served there for 10 beloved years in which he and his wife led many popular golfing trips all over Mexico and Hawaii. Returning back to Woodland in 1997, he worked at Yolo Fliers Club and Wild Wings Golf Course as Head Pro and Club Manager.
Randy was most honored to be the golf coach for Pioneer High School and was voted All League Coach for 2 years. He was a Moose Club member. He also was a leader in the Boosters Club for Pioneer High School and helped raise the money to build the football stadium. He loved watching the Patriots play football. He was a long-time member of Faith Episcopal Church in Cameron Park and was proud to be part of building a new church.
His happiest times were playing golf with his boys or his brother-in-law. He loved the game and felt it taught respect and integrity. Ironically, he didn’t get to play as much golf as he wanted working as a Golf Professional.
Randy is preceded in death by his mother, Janet Thomas, his father Hugh Thomas and his grandmother Elise Foster.
Survivors include, his wife of 39 years Andrea Boileau Thomas; his sons Harrison Thomas and Matthew Thomas; his sons from a previous marriage Jeffery Thomas and Brian Thomas and daughter-in-law Danyelle Thomas; his grandchildren, Alissa Chacon, Kode Thomas, Chloe Thomas, Miranda Thomas and Faith Thomas; great-grandson Sylas Cullison; his sister Shelley and her husband Tom Muller, and his brother Scott and his wife Cathie Thomas, and his beloved dog Baxter.
